Founded in Aleppo under Presidential Decree No. 1759, SMTA has been at the forefront of Syria’s maritime and transport services for over 70 years. From representing 48 international shipping lines to serving as Lloyd’s Agent in Syria and General Sales Agent (GSA) for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, SMTA has played a key role in shaping Syria’s commercial and transport infrastructure.

Marine Cargo Surveying & Loss Adjustment
SMTA offers certified cargo surveys, damage assessments, and claims inspections throughout Syria. With decades of experience serving international insurers and underwriters, we deliver services in line with global standards.
Due to the broader international compliance environment surrounding Syria, some formal agency representations were paused by our international principals. Nonetheless, SMTA continues to operate with professionalism, transparency, and a strong commitment to quality — meeting the expectations of both local and global clients.
Aviation & Travel Representation
From 1964 to 2006, SMTA proudly served as GSA for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines in northern Syria. We are now selectively re-engaging in airline, travel, and tourism services in line with Syria’s evolving mobility landscape.
Freight & Transport Representation
Historically the representative of Schenker & Levant Express in northern and western Syria, SMTA retains strong expertise in freight forwarding and logistics coordination — and remains ready to support international cargo networks.
